Plum Paper is a company that sells custom planners and journals. I first found them on Etsy about a year ago. They are extremely versatile in their layout, colors and designs. It’s also extremely easy to add pages such as notes, to do list or goals sheet.
I have just gotten 2 planner so far: one for last year and one for this year. They have so many types of planners to choose from. Last year, I bought a the basic planner with vertical lines (no times or dividers). This year, I bought a Large ME Planner this year. This review will be on both the planners I have ordered.
The experience I had with the planner I bought last year was very different from the experience I had with this years planner. I bought last years planner off of Etsy, through the Plum Paper shop. The communication between the seller and me was very smooth. They understood exactly what I wanted and contacted me back very quickly. I will say though, it was hard to browse all the covers because there was every cover for every type of planner they sold. Then, it was easy to track the shipping and I got my planner around the time I had expect. Now, I’m not sure if it was due to the fact that Etsy orders always take forever, but I didn’t find myself waiting extremely long for the planner to arrive. I would say it took about 10 days to arrive.
I quickly realized that the normal size of the planner was too small for me. It’s a 7.5″x9″ size planner, which works for some, just not me. I also was not a fan of the layout of vertical columns for days. There was very little room to write down what I needed. This planner may be more suited to someone who wants to plan out meetings or appointment; I was using it as a school planner to write down meetings and homework.
Another issue with my first planner was the plastic cover over the custom cover rubbed off the ink of the custom cover. This made the incredible cute pattern on the front look horrendously messy. However, the quality of the paper used for cover is very nice. It is water resistant and tear-proof.
Moving on to the planner I just received, I had the opposite problem than that of the previous planner: I love the planner but did not like the shipping process. This time I ordered the planner from plumpaper.com, picking a planner pattern, type and cover was infinitely easier on the site. There is also less back-and-forth with the seller. The shipping, however, took more than two weeks. Now, I understand that it is custom made, so shipping should be a little longer than normal products. However, as I was tracking the planner, I found that it took over a week to process through one state ( I know this is no fault of Plum Paper but that of the shipping company).
The Large ME Planner layout works so much better with school and scheduling. It has 7 horizontal section, I chose to only fill in 2 and leave 5 blank for classes (that change over the year). This way I can write my homework for that day in the row for that class. For scheduling meetings, I use the monthly part of the planner. This has worked out well and kept me more organized than the first planner. I also added more note pages this time for my sorority chapter, so I can take notes on upcoming events. The size makes such a difference as well. I have so much more room to write everything down.
As you can probably tell, there are pros and cons to both types of planners. But there are things I loved about both types and just about Plum Paper in general. I love how you can
choose not only the cover you would like, but if you would like it to have: your name, your monogram, the year, a phrase or a picture. You can choose simplistic covers or extremely colorful covers. I love the variety in types of planners and layouts they offer, there is something for everyone. The colorful layout is great! And the tabs for months are so helpful. They are spiral planners, which just makes it so much easier to write and use. They also are not too heavy but do contain a lot of useful pages. There are so many other things I love about these planners.
As you can guess, I am a fan of Plum Paper and do recommend their planners. Just keep in mind it may take more thank one try to find the planner that fits your lifestyle. So don’t give up on the first one, I’m glad I didn’t.
